Principal Engineer, Atkins
Alan Wisdish is a Principal Engineer with Atkins. He has been involved on a wide range of sewerage and urban drainage projects for most parts of the UK as well as overseas. The tools used have got more complex and allow for a wider range of investigations but fundamentally are about resolving surface water flooding problems with set cost boundaries. His involvement with urban drainage modelling encompasses a range of capacity assessments to understand the system performance and hence determine appropriate interventions.
Optimising the cost of flooding: balancing solution cost against predicted performance is an area where engineers can be challenged as to whether there is a more cost effective solution possible. By using ModeFRONTIER, we were able to demonstrate the range of options considered and provide confidence in the overall solution.
